Safe School Initiatives

PeaceMaker Minnesota’s Safe School Initiatives provides reimbursement payments up to $1,000 to elementary and K -8 partner schools to help youth grow in empathy, kindness and connection to one another.

PeaceMaker Minnesota generates long-term funding for schools that demonstrate that youth are:

  • Learning conflict resolution skills such as emotional regulation; ability to express thoughts, feelings and concerns constructively; perspective taking; ability to think through consequences and how actions impact others; ability to consider multiple solutions.

  • Developing empathy, kindness, self-esteem, resiliency and the ability to peacefully overcome bullying.

  • Bridging divides, apologizing, forgiving; standing up for people, including others, building community, and committed to peace.

We support efforts that demonstrate that school staff or parents are learning or prepared teach the peacemaking attributes above.

Applications accepted year-round.  No reimbursements to individuals.  The service fee for a school to participate in our Safe School Initiative is $100, payable after your application has been approved.  Your elementary or K – 8 school must be a member of PeaceMaker Minnesota’s network to be eligible for funding.  Learn about becoming a partner school here.

I am grateful that PeaceMaker enabled us to learn about the importance of social learning in kids and helped us to launch a school-wide program that is kid-friendly and relevant.
